Special Envoy for China to visit the Cook Islands

 

Rarotonga, Cook Islands, 12 July 2023 - Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs and the Government of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Qian Bo, will visit the Cook Islands this week.

His Excellency, Qian Bo will lead a delegation visiting the Cook Islands from 13 – 15 July and will meet with Associate Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, the Honourable Tingika Elikana, and Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, and Special Envoy to the Pacific Islands Forum, Ms Tepaeru Herrmann.

Cook Islands and China talk forward co-operation

 

Cook Island Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration the Hon. Mark Brown met with the Ambassador for the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to New Zealand and the Cook Islands, His Excellency, Wang Xiaolong in Rarotonga today.

Ambassador Wang arrived in Rarotonga mid-morning, in transit on his way back to New Zealand following a visit to Niue. He arrived on an Air Rarotonga charter flight from Niue and returns to Auckland on an Air New Zealand flight this afternoon.
