Suva, Fiji, 07 August 2026 – The Cook Islands delegation has concluded a week of regional meetings in Suva, Fiji, culminating in the Forum Foreign Ministers Meeting ahead of the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.
Under caretaker provisions, Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Ms Elizabeth Wright-Koteka, led the Cook Islands delegation.
"One of MFAI's core functions is to proactively contribute to regional policy formulation, decision-making and implementation to advance and protect the Cook Islands' interests," the Secretary affirmed.
"Discussions on the implementation of the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent, the ongoing Review of the Regional Architecture, the Forum's proposed Partnership Mechanism, and key regional security issues provided an important opportunity for the Cook Islands to help shape regional priorities and ensure our national perspectives were represented."
The Secretary was supported by the newly appointed Cook Islands High Commissioner to Fiji, His Excellency Michael Henry, Deputy High Commissioner Ms Antonina Brown, and Acting Director of Pacific and Regional Affairs, Mr Eden Brown.
Over the next three weeks, the Cook Islands delegation will continue preparations for the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting, to be held in Palau later this month, where Pacific Leaders will consider many of the issues advanced through the regional ministerial process.
