Australia Governor-General to visit the Cook Islands

 

Rarotonga, Cook Islands, 21 June 2023 – Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable David John Hurley AC DSC will visit the Cook Islands next week as a guest of the Head of State, the King’s Representative, Sir Tom Marsters.

His Excellency David Hurley will lead a delegation visiting the Cook Islands from 26 - 27 June and will meet with Sir Tom and Lady Tuaine Marsters, Prime Minister the Honourable Mark Brown, as well as other government and civil society representatives on Rarotonga.

The program of engagements for the visit is being coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration (MFAI) in partnership with the Cook Islands Office of the Head of State and the Australia High Commission in Rarotonga.

"We are pleased to be able to receive this visit by Australia Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley and his wife, the Honourable Linda Hurley, and their delegation," said Prime Minister Brown.

"The Cook Islands and Australia share an enduring friendship and people-to-people bonds and values, which have been codified through the 2022 'Oa Tumanava Partnership Agreement.”
