Rarotonga, Cook Islands, 05 August 2026 – The Cook Islands formally welcomed the High Commissioner of the Republic of India and the Ambassador of the United States of America at a presentation of Credentials held today, Wednesday 05 August 2026.

The King’s Representative, Sir Tom Marsters, received Letters of Credence from Her Excellency Ms Muanpuii Saiawi, High Commissioner of the Republic of India, and His Excellency Mr Jared Novelly, Ambassador of the United States of America.

His Excellency, Sir Tom Marsters, recognised the longstanding relationship between the Cook Islands and India, built on mutual respect and practical cooperation. Over the years, India’s support has contributed to community initiatives across the Cook Islands, delivering tangible benefits for our people.

Sir Tom Marsters also acknowledged Ambassador Novelly’s accreditation as the first United States Ambassador to the Cook Islands, noting that the appointment marks an important new step in the development of relations between the two countries following the establishment of diplomatic relations in September 2023.

“We are pleased to welcome the High Commissioner of India and the Ambassador of the United States to the Cook Islands. Their visit is an important occasion for our country, as it reflects the value we place on both relationships. We look forward to working closely with them and building on the strong foundations already in place.” said Mr Jim Armistead, Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Immigration.

During their visit, the respective Heads of Missions will pay courtesy calls on senior government officials. These meetings will provide an opportunity to reaffirm existing partnerships and explore areas of mutual interest and future cooperation.
